Martin Whistler was Jack Deth's long-time nemesis. He could use his psychic abilities to turn people with weak minds into obedient slaves called trancers. Jack followed him to 1985 in order to save the descendants of three Angel City counselors. However, he was almost too late.
Whistler stole a time drug and fled to Los Angeles and into the body of a man named Weisling, a police detective. Jack managed to stop Whistler without harming Weisling, an innocent man who is the father of six children.
